Canada doesn't have one single rule — and it even changes from one activity to another. Here's what applies where you live.
| Activity | Availability |
|---|---|
| Sports betting | — |
| Esports | — |
| Predictions | — |
Ontario has had its own regulated market (iGaming Ontario) since 2022 and excludes all three activities. Alberta is more nuanced: sports and esports betting aren't offered there by these operators, but the Predictions section is. British Columbia, meanwhile, has access to sports and esports but not Predictions. Each province regulates online gambling its own way, and these rules can evolve.
The blocking measure Québec adopted in 2016 (Bill 74) was struck down by the Superior Court in 2018, a ruling upheld by the Court of Appeal in 2021; foreign-licensed operators remain accessible there for all three activities.
