Decimal odds are the easiest to compare: they show the total payout (stake included) per dollar wagered. Odds of 2.50 on a $10 bet return $25 if it wins. American and fractional formats encode the same information differently — useful depending on where the operator or content you're reading is from.
Every price encodes a probability estimate (100 ÷ decimal odds). Comparing that probability to your own read on a matchup is the basis of the value bet calculator.

They're two ways of expressing the same thing. Decimal shows the total payout per dollar staked; American shows profit on a $100 stake (positive) or the stake needed to win $100 (negative).
