Yes, from age 19. Bill C-218, given royal assent on June 29, 2021 and in force since August 27, 2021, allowed single-game betting across Canada, and it explicitly recognizes esports competitions as sporting events. The law targets operators, not bettors.
BCLC runs the province's lottery, casino and sports betting alike, and PlayNow.com remains the only platform the province authorizes: British Columbia hasn't committed to opening its market to private operators the way Ontario and Alberta did. On prediction markets, the province took a stand in August 2026, calling these platforms illegal, unregulated gambling — which is why our operators' Predictions section isn't offered there, while sports and esports are.
