Yes, from age 19. Bill C-218, given royal assent on June 29, 2021 and in force since August 27, 2021, allowed single-game betting across Canada, and it explicitly recognizes esports competitions as sporting events. The law targets operators, not bettors.
Saskatchewan is the western province most recently arrived in regulated online gambling: PlayNow launched there in November 2022, through a partnership between the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority (SIGA) and SaskGaming. Uniquely in Canada, half of SIGA's revenue goes to the province's First Nations communities through the First Nations Trust.
