Yes, from age 18. Bill C-218, given royal assent on June 29, 2021 and in force since August 27, 2021, allowed single-game betting across Canada, and it explicitly recognizes esports competitions as sporting events. The law targets operators, not bettors.
On July 13, 2026, Alberta became the second province, after Ontario, to open its online betting and casino market to private operators: 22 sites from 15 companies went live on day one, alongside Play Alberta, which keeps operating. Sites not registered with the AGLC had to stop accepting Albertans. That's why sports and esports aren't offered by our three operators in Alberta. The Predictions section is a separate case: the AGLC has publicly stated it has no authority over offshore prediction platforms, and our operators' Predictions section remains accessible there.
